SUPER RUGBY WEEK 11
Crusaders v Reds
The Crusaders take on the Reds in the opening clash this weekend. The Crusaders had the Bye last week, after hammering the Brumbies 40-14 at Canberra in a dominant display. The Reds last week dismantled the Cheetahs in a dull game that only opened up in the second half 30-17.
The Crusaders have beaten the Reds on the last four occasions, three of them by considerable margins of 31, 28 and 29. The Crusaders are really starting to look like competition front runners now and I have them as the team to beat in this years competition at this stage. The Crusaders have only played one game at home in the last five games so will be looking forward to this week to play in front of their fans and produce a good result after the week's rest.
I think the Crusaders will be way to classy for the Reds and should dismantle them with ease.
Hurricanes v Sharks
The Hurricanes absolutely hammered the Lions last week in what was a pick-em game 50-17. Meanwhile the Sharks were gutsy in defeat to the Chiefs away from home 24-22. The Sharks have had a mixed campaign in NZ with 1 win and 2 close losses. While the Hurricanes are starting to look like the team that made it to the big dance in 2015.
This promises to be a bruising game. The Hurricanes will want to play a fast tempo game and use their experienced backline to score plenty of points while the Sharks will try do the opposite and slow the game down in the forwards to halt any attacking play by the Hurricanes.
With the Hurricanes already having had a week in South Africa they should be well acclimatised by now, alternatively the Sharks have just had to do the long flight back from New Zealand and may take a little time to get into their stride.
I think the Canes will take this one in what could be a reasonably tight battle, but I'm confident they can cover the line.
