SUPER RUGBY WEEK 5
Jaguares v Stormers
The Stormers make the long flight to Argentina this weekend to take on the Jaguares. The Stormers, currently 2nd on the overall standings were very impressive against premiership favourites the Brumbies last weekend with a 31-11 win, largely in fact due to a late red card for the Brumbies. While the Jaguares toughed it out in a close match with the Chiefs to go down late 30-26.
This was an early play for the week as I was very surprised when the market came out for this match - the market has recently come back to the Stormers. I rated the Stormers an -8.5 point favourite in this match, the market has them as underdogs. I expect the market to move to at least pick them by game time.
Hurricanes v Kings
The Hurricanes got their campaign back on track with a great victory over the Force last week, grinding them down then unleashing a second half assault to put the game out of doubt. The Kings were lucky with the scoreline they produced against the Crusaders when it was once destined for a 50+ result to the Crusaders. The Kings rallied well in the second half to score a couple of good tries to keep the scoreline closer.
The Hurricanes finally play their first game at their main home stadium in Wellington. These teams played once back in 2013 with the Hurricanes coming away 16 point victors.
The Hurricanes have the BYE next week so I would expect them to play with a fairly strong line-up, unlike the Crusaders did last week against the Kings. The Kings may even rest some players as next week they play the Sunwolves at home and will desperately want to get a win out of that game.
