SUPER RUGBY WEEK 3
BLUES v HURRICANES
Both teams are coming off loses last week but this game promises to be a mouth watering encounter. The Blues rotation backfired last week under coach Tana Umaga as they were outclassed by a much improved Crusaders outfit. I'm a huge believer in keeping a winning team on the paddock the following week.
The Hurricanes 0-2 season is already on tender hooks. Last years runner ups have looked nothing like their 2015 campaign. This is almost a must win game for the team from the lower North Island and coach Chris Boyd will be reinforcing that to his players this week.
The Hurricanes looked a lot better last week and will improve from a tough Highlanders outfit. The canes disposed of the Blues twice last year and because of the urgency to get their campaign running I think they'll be hard to beat.
KINGS v CHEIFS
The reintroduction of the Kings to Super Rugby already looks like a failure, they looked like a schoolboys team in the opening round and although passionate, they failed to contest throughout the game. These teams have only played once in Super Rugby history with the Chiefs coming away with an 11 point victory.
I only needed to see one Kings game to come to the conclusion that this team should be belted week in week out, a 50+ point loss will be common this year. With that in mind, I'm going to have to go for a large Chiefs victory this week.
STORMERS v SHARKS
The two best South African teams fight out the closing match of Round 3. Stormers played a well drilled Cheetahs team last week and although only winning by 10 points, they looked the far better team.
The Sharks just beat a classy Jaguares team in Round 2 with accurate kicking being the difference in that game.
The Stormers look to be good money makers this year and I think that will continue. This is always a fiery clash and I expect nothing less this week.
