SUPER RUGBY WEEK 2
Crusaders v Blues
The battle of the two big unions of the North and South island come out to play in the opening game of Round 2 of the Super Rugby Season. The Crusaders coming off a loss to the Chiefs while the Blues disposed of last years champions the Highlanders.
The Crusaders have won the last three games over the Blues with a couple of convincing margins of 8, 14 and 23 points, they've also won the last seven games at home between the two sides. With the Crusaders due for a bye next week they will be giving it everything they have to get their first win of the season.
I think that history will repeat for this game with the home team coming out on top, but their won't be much between the two sides. Pick 2 Units- Crusaders by 12 points or under $2.70 or better
Highlanders v Hurricanes
Last years finalists do battle in what is promised to be an interesting clash. Both teams suffered losses last week to the Blues and Brumbies respectively. The Hurricanes will be nursing psychological wounds after a trouncing in Canberra last weekend. They are a far better side than what they showed but I also strong believe the Brumbies are the team to beat this year with an exceptional squad across the park.
These two teams always have fierce tight battles. Last year the Hurricanes thrashed the Highlanders by 36 points late in the season, however before that winning margins of less than 7 points were the norm.
I think the Highlanders showed last week that once again they are title contenders, the Hurricanes will be looking to get their campaign back on track but I pick the Highlanders to win in a close one.
Cheetahs v Stormers
I was really impressed with the Stormers last weekend disposing of the Bulls with ease, who I should add I don't rate at all this year. The Cheetahs are coming off what on paper looks like a close loss to the Jaguares, yet watching the game they were really only in the game due to a couple of yellow cards in the first half to the Jaguares. As soon as the Jaguares were back to 15 on 15 they really took the game by the scruff and dominated proceedings.
Both teams seem to beat the other team when they're playing at their respective home grounds, with the Cheetahs winning the last three games in Bloemfontein against the Stormers. I have to go with what I saw in last weekends matches though. I think the Stormers are one of the teams to beat this year and alternatively I believe the Cheetahs will struggle.
