A-LEAGUE WEEK 10
SYDNEY FC V MELBOURNE CITY
Great way to start off the round with a top of the table clash that will no doubt be the match of the round. City are undefeated in the last four attempts against a Sydney FC team that will be looking to avenge their FFA cup final defeat last week. Sydney's recent home record against City is somewhat alarming as they haven't tasted victory for close to three years now, however, this season they have been far more stellar at home bringing 4 wins from 5 matches, drawing the remaining match and only conceding two goals in the process. I like Sydney here at home, it's their season this year.
WELLINGTON PHOENIX V CENTRAL COAST MARINERS
Central Coast cross the border to face a Wellington side they've only beat twice in the last nine attempts. Wellington are a much better side at home and although they are facing a sporadically performing team in Central Coast, they will be full of confidence in their ability to get the three points. Central Coast haven't kept a clean sheet in their last five trips to Wellington and I can see that trend continuing on Saturday. The one positive that the Mariners have is that they are undefeated in their last 3 away matches, this will be a lot harder though and I expect that run to come to an end here.
Roy Krishna will play a huge part in this match and these are the kind of games that I expect him to deliver.
WESTERN SYDNEY V MELBOURNE VICTORY
Victory head into this match as slight underdogs due to the home stadium advantage plus the exclusion of form player Marco Rojas, which could prove to be a bitter blow to the Victory's chances. Victory have the historical edge as well as the recent form on the board against WSW with Victory being undefeated in their last three attempts. An interesting stat is that these two teams have never played out a draw when WSW have been the home side, an interesting stat which makes me lean towards an outright result.
I think Victory are a classier squad and Berisha will be far too experienced for the WSW youthful defence. Wouldn't be surprised to see a penalty or red card given in this match with Berisha being involved, however, Victory are too good of a price to be ignored.
PERTH GLORY V NEWCASTLE JETS
Perth host Newcastle and will look to continue their incredible streak against Jets and register their 9th straight win. The Jets have yet to take 3 points from Glory since November 2011, the last time Jets won in Perth was a sole victory back in 2005.
The two current sides are worlds apart this year, jets started off well but have since capitulated terribly and find themselves only above last place by a better goal difference. They will be bottom by the end of this round.
There isn't much else to say for this one, Perth are and will be far more superior and I expect a very easy win.
BRISBANE ROAR V ADELAIDE UNITED
The last game of the round will take us to Brisbane to see the Roar host Adelaide in what will most likely end up a 1-1 draw. This is because Roar have played out 1-1 draws for their last four games in a row, a mind boggling stat as Roar have often been the better squad in the majority of those matches.
Adelaide finally got that elusive first win of the season and that will hopefully kickstart their season, in which some say, is well and truly over already. They played well against the Phoenix with Henrique did scoring two crackers to put the game to bed early on, but the departure of Ernie Merrick from Phoenix maybe indicates that things are a lot worse behind the scenes in Wellington.
Brisbane at home should be able to get the three points and I'm more than certain that Jamie Maclaren will be on the scoresheet again.
