NRL ROUND 13
Rabbitohs v Sharks
The Sharks have been left relatively untouched through origin selection (just Holmes out) which plays into their hands here against a Rabbitohs side where a number of their players have been rewarded for their form, the end result leaving them fairly decimated.
There’s no way the Sharks are going to let the Burgess brothers dominate them in the same fashion they dominated a soft Warriors pack last week, it could be a role reversal actually as the likes of Fafita, Graham and Gallen will be itching to bring them down a peg.
With the talent that is missing from the Rabbitohs side it’s hard to see them competing here as so much of their success has come off the back of Cook’s work from dummy half, Inglis and Gagai with their sniping runs and Crichton being mr reliable up the middle.
The bookies have the Sharks as favourites but the line for them to cover isn’t large and with the experience and talent they’re boasting they should get the job done. Pick – 4 units on Sharks -4.5 point start (BEST BET)
Eels v Knights
Two of the worst teams in the competition square off here with both desperate to climb out of the dreaded wooden spoon contention. The Knights have gotten worse as the seasons progressed with their fast start to the season now a distant memory as the impact of losing Pearce has hit home; meanwhile the Eels have been largely very average with the odd glimmer of hope being largely overshadowed by lacklustre efforts.
Of the two sides it’s the Eels that clearly have the better team on paper, they’ve played well below themselves all season but if there’s ever a game where they’re likely to fire it’ll be this one against a weak Knights side they know they really should have the measure of.
It’ll be interesting to see Gutherson at five-eighth, a decision that Brad Arthur will not have made lightly; if he’s a revelation then it could be just the spark the Eels need but he will require his forward pack to step up and dominate the Knights which they should do.
The Eels are rightly favourites here and should come away with a double-digit winning margin over a Knights side that’s stuck in reverse. Pick – 3 units on Eels -6.5 point start
