Storm odds-on the title

FROM TAB.COM.AU

STORM ENTER THE FINALS AS PREMIERSHIP FAVOURITES

AFTER stretching their winning streak to seven matches last night against Canberra, Melbourne are $1.85 favourites with TAB to win the 2017 NRL premiership.

The Storm are the shortest price any team has been to win the title entering the finals since 2008, when they were $1.70 before losing to the Warriors at Olympic Park in the first week, and eventually the Grand Final to Manly 40-0.

“Melbourne finished the home-and-away season three games clear on top of the ladder, so it’s no surprise to see them rated the shortest priced favourite to claim the Provan-Summons Trophy in almost a decade,” TAB’s Trent Langskaill said.

“The Storm also have the potential of not leaving Melbourne until the Grand Final with two finals at AAMI Park, where they have won nine of 11 games in 2017.”

Melbourne are $1.22 favourites in their qualifying final over Parramatta ($4.50), while the Sydney Roosters are $1.70 favourites against Brisbane ($2.20) at Allianz Stadium, with the winner securing a home preliminary final.

In the elimination finals at Allianz Stadium, reigning premiers Cronulla are $1.36 favourites against North Queensland ($3.15), while Manly are $1.65 favourites when they face Penrith ($2.25) after defeating them 28-12 at Brookvale Oval last night.
