A-LEAGUE WEEK 23
SYDNEY FC V CENTRAL COAST MARINERS
The split round this week means only the two matches will be getting played, fortunately for us, they are two games we should be able to make a quid on. We start in Sydney were the inevitable minor premiers host the Central Coast Mariners who make the short trip up from Gosford. Sydney FC are strong favourites in this game and i can see why. They boast far better stats in attacking positions, they trounce the Mariners on a regular basis and they are undefeated in the last eight games scoring over 3 a game. To say this one is clear cut is an understatement. This is completely one way traffic and i see no reason as to why this will be any different.
There's not many positives that i can find to be in the Mariners corner, they'd have to be wishing that Arnold was still coaching them at the moment. I'm going to be right on the bandwagon with this one and say Sydney can win it by a big space. They should cover the handicap but i feel as though the floodgates will open when Sydney gets their first goal, especially if they manage to score in the first 20 minutes or so. Big risk here but i'm banking on the Central Coast of old to come out and do absolutely nothing.
MELBOURNE VICTORY V PERTH GLORY
The second match takes us to Melbourne where the Victory host the surprisingly inconsistent Perth Glory. The Glory somehow managed to find a way back into the match after being two goals down with not long left whereas the Victory were taught another lesson by Sydney FC, something which would've hurt them to the core. The match itself looks to be the better of the two games on display this weekend as you can see Perth giving Victory more of a competition than what the Mariners will give Sydney.
A couple of players have been added into the Victory squad with Alan Baro and George Howard coming into a massive squad for Saturday's feature clash. After playing extremely well against Sydney last week and still walking away with nothing, Melbourne will be feeling devastated and they'll come into this match with some pride to save and something to prove. Ingham and Rojas were exceptional but unfortunately they couldn't find that elusive goal to equalise or even take the lead. They created a significant number of chances and with the Glory showing that they are conceding goals everywhere, i think these two players will shine again.
I think having a bet on Rojas being the first goalscorer (currently $6) wouldn't be the worst bet you can do if looking for that First goalscorer is your thing, bearing in mind you do have Berisha in the same lineup and his record speaks for itself. However, i think Victory will be able to beat Perth quite easily at home and with the addition of more pace and aggression into the mix, we should see plenty of goals.
