PGA Tour - AT&T National - 27-30 June 2013
Congressional Country Club, Blue Course, Bethesda, Maryland, USA

INTRODUCTION

This tournament has been, since 2007, a Tiger Woods-hosted event to benefit Tiger's tax deductibility - oops, I mean charitable foundation. Sadly, Tiger has an elbow injury and will not be playing this week.

The event's home is Congressional, though it was moved to Aronimink for 2010 & 2011 while Congressional was prepared for the 2011 US Open.

THE COURSE

Congressional is a big, long (7,500yds+) and challenging par 71 course but, though longer drivers do have an advantage, for me this course is all about putting on its big bent grass greens and related to this is proximity to the pins - so I'll be seeking out long to medium length drivers with sound GIR / approach stats and demonstrated putting ability on bent grass greens.

The AT&T winners here have been: KJ Choi (2007), Anthony Kim (2008) and Tiger Woods twice (2009 & 2012) while the wet 2011 US Open here was annexed by Rory McIlroy by 8 strokes over regular Major contender, Jason Day.

EARLY MARKET

Following the withdrawal of Justin Rose, Adam Scott heads the early market at 13.00-15.00, and why not! He hasn't missed a cut for a year, plays sparingly and only against the best, won The Masters and this course is an almost perfect fit for his skill set. I expect him to contend.

Next in betting, all shorter than 20/1, are quality players Jason Day, Hunter Mahan & Brandt Snedeker.

Rounding out the top of the market and priced up to 30/1 are: Billy Horschel & Rickie Fowler.

SELECTIONS

I like Adam Scott & Bo Van Pelt to win here so, as is my nature, I've gone with the longer priced of the two; so it's BVP at 34.00

Bo has been in solid recent form, was second here last year, has the perfect ball striking requirements and is one of the best bent grass green putters going around.

I'm backing him up with two additional plays:

My 2nd bet selection this week is Chez Reavie. He's being playing well, though largely under the radar, in recent times and likes Congressional. He's generally available at 126.00 for an each way play.

My final selection is a Top 10 bet on Jason Kokrak who hits it big and who I suspect will take to this course. He's generally available at 19.00-20.00 to make the top 10.

Cheers and good luck with your punting!
